On July 9th, according to the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation, the General Offices of the State Administration for Market Regulation, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued a notice, clarifying the first batch of pilot certification directories for product carbon footprint labeling across the country. It includes 17 kinds of products such as lithium-ion batteries, photovoltaic modules, steel products, textile products, room air conditioners, computers, low-power motors, tires, electrolytic aluminum, cement, artificial boards and wooden floors.

The release of this catalogue marks a crucial step forward for China's product carbon label certification system from a policy framework to practical implementation. By focusing on specific product segments and complementing them with the upcoming product-specific certification implementation rules, a product carbon footprint labeling certification solution covering the entire life cycle will be established, providing enterprises and certification bodies with a set of operational, applicable and verifiable certification implementation guidelines.

The State Administration for Market Regulation will accelerate the progress of the pilot program for product carbon footprint labeling and certification. Based on practical exploration, it will form typical experiences that can be replicated and promoted, injecting strong internal impetus into the construction of China's product carbon labeling and certification system and carbon footprint management system. It will demonstrate China's responsibility and commitment in promoting institutional innovation for green and low-carbon development and participating in global climate governance through concrete actions.
